Minimum balances:

Additional requirements:
- Attach the latest bank statement confirming that you hold an account that is satisfactorily conducted in the country of residence, together with a copy of your passport (pages showing photo, exit from Malawi and entry into the country of residence). Alternatively, you may obtain a formal notarised deposition from a Notary Public confirming your identity. The Notary Public should attach a certified copy of your passport.
- Provide your full physical address where you are residing, certified by the Notary Public as correct.
- Alternatively, you may use a referee who holds an account with National Bank of Malawi.

Agency Banking
How can I get registered for Agent banking as an agent?
Below are the requirements:
- Fully completed NBM Fast Serve Registration Form.
- Business Registration Certificate for a business that has been operational for at least 12 months.
- The business must be a Sole Proprietorship, Partnership or Limited Entity.
- The business should generate at least K50,000 in sales revenue daily.
- The business should have the ability and willingness to deposit at least K500,000 into a float account to start the NBM Fast Serve Agent Banking Deposit Service.
- The business should be willing to maintain its own registers where banking transactions will be recorded.
- A copy of TPIN (optional).
- Clear photo of the business premises.
- Copy of valid business licence/permit for the last 12 months (optional).
- Financial statements for more than 6 months.
- Passport-size photographs for the manager and assistants, or copies of IDs.
- Utility bill copy or map to the premises.
Additional requirements for a limited company:
- Certificate of incorporation.
- A brief description of commercial activity for at least 12 months immediately preceding the date of suitability assessment.
- Board resolution to do agency banking.
- Copies of IDs for all directors, the manager and assistant(s).
What are the Wallet Agents requirements?
- National ID and phone number.
- Utility bill copy or map to the premises.
- Minimum K50,000.

How long does it take to transfer money from my National Bank account to other banks’ accounts?
Instantly via the Instant Transfer option on Mo626.

Loan / Credit Facilities
How can I access a loan and how long can it take?
Loans can be accessed by meeting a consultant at any Service Centre:
- Payday loan – 24 hours
- Consumer loan – 3 working days
Required documents (for employed customers):
- Letter from employer
- Valid ID
- Latest payslip
Loans can also be applied for through Mo626 Digital+.
Other loans
Asset-Based Loan – requirements
- Valuation report, title deed, ground rates / city rates.
- If employed: letter of undertaking and payslip.
Mortgage
- The Bank contributes 85% of the value of the property.
- Valuation report, title deed, ground rates / city rates and house-loan insurance.
- Salaried customers: letter of undertaking and payslip.
VAF (Vehicle Asset Finance)
- The Bank contributes up to 100% of the vehicle value.
- Reconditioned vehicles – not more than 10 years old.
- Second-hand vehicles – not more than 5 years old.
- Maximum repayment period: 48 months (second-hand / reconditioned) or 60 months (brand-new).
- Copies of importation documents and valuation report.
- Salaried customers: latest payslip and letter of undertaking.
- Business customers: Registration Certificate, Business Profile, latest Financial Statements and cash-flow projection.

Does the Bank offer unsecured loans and how long does it take?
Yes. Processing time is two working days for Payday, Consumer, Young Professional and Entrepreneur loans.
Can one access a bank loan without having an account with National Bank of Malawi?
Yes – only if your employer (the company you work for) has a loan-facility agreement with the Bank.
Mo626, PINs, Cards and Cheques

I have lost my ATM Card; can I still access my account / withdraw money?
Yes. Use the Cardless Withdraw service on either the Mo626 Digital app or Mo626ice. Go to the Cardless Withdraw option and follow the instructions.
How much do you charge for your cards?

Yes. Visit the Service Centre and request a card transfer.

How can I request a cheque book?
You may request a cheque book via Mo626 or by completing a cheque-book requisition slip and submitting it at any of our Service Centres.

Failing to pay for services online using our Visa Classic Debit Card
Ensure that the transaction is within the approved online payment limit set by your Service Centre (credit-card limits vary).

How can I increase the forex limit on my ATM card?

What is a CVV code?
It is the three-digit number printed on the back of your Visa card.
How can I access Internet Banking?
