National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc has launched ‘unlock your potential’ campaign where the bank engages various professionals to offer advice and counsel to customers and the general public in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

NBM plc Marketing and Corporate Affairs Manager Akossa Hiwa said in an interview yesterday that with the general public being urged to stay home and with business slowing down, the Bank felt it would be the best to encourage an investment in personal and professional growth.

Listed National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc has registered a group profit after tax of K17.16 billion from K15.97 billion reported in 2018 representing an increase of 7%.

In a statement announcing the financial results ending 31 December 2019 signed by NBM plc Board Chairman George Partridge, Board Director Dorothy Ngwira, NBM plc Chief Executive Officer Macfussy Kawawa and Chief Finance officer Masauko Katsala, NBM plc said Non-interest income grew by 10% while Net interest and investment income grew by 12%.

NBM Training College gets MBS award

MBS NBM AwardNational Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc Learning and Growth Centre popularly known as NBM Training College has been recognised with the ‘best catering services’ award by the Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS).

NBM Training College was awarded with the Best Catering Services award at a ceremony which took place in Blantyre on Thursday attended by Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism Salim Bagus.

Receiving the award, NBM Learning and Growth Centre Manager Abigail Madise said the centre is elated to be recognised in the particular category.

NBM donates K1 million to ESCOM for international conference

National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc on Thursday donated K1 million to Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) which is hosting an international power conference starting today in Lilongwe.

Presenting the donation, NBM plc Head of Operations Brian Boby said the Bank decided to contribute towards the 54th Southern Africa Power Pool (SAPP) conference because supply of power drives economic growth and would benefit the Bank and businesses operating in the country.

National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc has donated K1 million to Malawi Law Society (MLS) for its Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for the 27th of February to the 1st of March 2020.

Presenting the cheque in Blantyre, NBM plc Legal Counsel and Company Secretary Zunzo Mitole said the bank values the role that lawyers play in the country, especially in the financial sector.

National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc on Friday treated customers that took part in a social media Valentine’s promotion that run from the 5th to the 11th of February.

To gain eligibility for the promotion, customers had to register onto to NBM’s mobile banking app, Mo626 Digital + and transact, or simply transact if they had already registered. Nine winners, announced on Valentine’s treats such as full board accommodation for two at a hotel of their choice (two couples), dinner for two (two couples) and Gift Hampers (5 couples).

NBM plc Marketing and Corporate Affairs Manager Akossa Hiwa said the promotion was an amalgamation of two of the Bank’s objectives of being customer centric and enhancing customer experience through digitization of processes and products.

NBM Plc FLIES ICTAM WINNERS TO AFRICAN TECH SUMMIT IN KIGALI

In keeping with the commitment it made during the announcement of an MOU with Information Communication Technology Association of Malawi (ICTAM) in 2019, National Bank of Malawi (NBM) Plc last week treated two top innovators with cash prizes and a fully paid trip to the African Tech Summit in Kigali, Rwanda.

This follows the 2019 ICTAM lakeshore conference where Pilirani Kumasewera emerged the overall winner for pitching Padziwe online school. Sam Masikini, a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Organisation and Methods Division fourth year student at the University of Malawi, Polytechnic was awarded for the best IoT in the Artificial Intelligence category for his voice controlling system called “Thandi.
