NBM Development Bank Limited, a subsidiary of National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc, says its recognition by the Malawi Investment and Trade Centre (MITC) for the Malawi Exporters Award in the Best Financial Services category confirms its commitment in ensuring growth of the country’s SME sector and economy.

Leading home-grown commercial Bankers, National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc says it is motivated to grow their digital services delivery following the Best Digital Bank recognition by Information Communication Technology Association of Malawi (ICTAM) for the second successive year at the 2024 ICT Expo in Lilongwe last weekend.

NBM plc’s Head of Digital Financial Services, William Kaunda said the Bank values the award coming from the astute professionals who are knowledgeable with the inner workings of digital services.

Akossa Hiwa-Partnership will ease payment processes

National Bank of Malawi (NBM) Plc and Blantyre City Council (BCC) have partnered to ensure Blantyre City residents are able to pay for various services through the Bank’s digital platforms. 

NBM Plc’s Marketing and Corporate Affairs Manager, Akossa Hiwa said the partnership will help ease the payment processes for city rates and other services offered by BCC to its residents. 

“For now, only city rates have been enabled. Soon we will include Business Licenses. NBM Plc account holders registered on Mo626ice will be able to pay at their convenience and not have to go to the Bank or BCC offices for payments.”

National Bank of Malawi Plc says the number of customers utilizing their digital platforms has grown beyond expectation since the launch of the ‘Popanda Chifukwa’ Mo626Pay/POS Promotion in December last year.

The Bank’s Cards Acquiring and Merchants Services Manager, David Tamula said this during the third monthly draw of the promotion which took place in Zomba.

Tamula observed the storming sessions that the Bank has been conducting in various outlets for instant prizes have also brought excitement amongst the customers.

“The promotion was designed just to appreciate our customers’ loyalty as we also complement government efforts in ensuring we have a cashless society. Customers have always embraced our digital platforms but this time it has gone beyond our expectation.”
