NBM plc honours 6 Innovation Jam winners

National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc has awarded six outstanding innovators for their impactful solutions at the 2025 ICT Association of Malawi (ICTAM) Innovation Jam Awards held in Mangochi at the weekend.

Staff Nyoni emerged the overall winner under Imagine Tech category with an assistive learning platform called ‘The Blind Classroom’ designed for visually impaired learners, a solution he says is already transforming learning outcomes.

NBM plc commits MK20.5 million to LCC activities

National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc has committed MK20.5 million to the Lilongwe City Council (LCC) to support the on-going sanitation efforts, and the orientation of newly elected councillors.

From the donation, K15 million is for sanitation and maintenance of the tools, while K5.5 million goes to the councillors’ orientation programme scheduled for Thursday.

National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc says the newly launched Mo626 Varsity Games will become one of the country’s biggest talent-identification platforms, creating opportunities for young athletes and strengthening Malawi’s sports pipeline from universities to national and international levels.

Speaking during the launch of the games at Mzuzu University on Saturday, NBM Plc’s Marketing and Corporate Affairs Manager, Akossa Hiwa, said the Bank’s K1.58 billion investment in sports is designed to broaden the talent pool and unlock opportunities for student athletes.

NBM donates K300 million to Government to fight hunger

One of Africa’s rapidly growing commercial banks, the Malawi Stock Exchange (MSE)-listed Bank of the Nation, National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc, has partnered with the Malawi Government to help eliminate hunger in the country’s most affected regions by donating K300 million to the national food relief program.

Minister of Finance, Joseph Mwanamveka, received the donation on Tuesday and described it as the largest single contribution made so far by a financial institution toward the ongoing response. He praised the support as timely, saying it will play a critical role in safeguarding the lives of vulnerable Malawians during the lean season.
