I am the firstborn in a family of four. I pursued my education, earning a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Malawi, specifically from Polytechnic, which is now known as MUBAS. After my studies, I took on various internships; I never landed a permanent job. During that time, I managed to save up a bit of money. With those savings, I made a significant decision. In 2010, I purchased a piece of land, and in 2013, I ventured into piggery farming. As time went on, I introduced poultry, goat keeping, and horticulture farming to diversify my efforts.
I have always believed that money can be found anywhere, it is the fruit of our labor. Having a degree doesn't necessarily mean you are confined to air-conditioned offices; there's money in agriculture too. I was willing to take the risk and try my hand at farming. Along this journey, I have received support from my colleagues, and I also have a contract with Shoprite. I supply produce to hotels, city supermarkets, and schools. What's more, my farming efforts have taken me places. I have been to Chicago, China, and Durban; all because of farming. This endeavor allowed me to move from town to my farm, where I now have a small farmhouse. I'm even in the process of building another house in town, all thanks to farming.
Farming indeed holds potential, but it requires ample patience and resilience. My late father has been a major influence on me; he was an accountant but also involved in farming. Growing up, I admired his balance between these two worlds. Even though I pursued journalism, my heart was in farming. It hasn't been an easy journey, but when you are focused and determined, you stick to your path. I started small, but I have seen growth. I'm not where I used to be, and that's what keeps me going, that progress, that growth.
For quality produce, proper farm inputs are essential. In Malawi, the prices of these inputs keep rising every season. If you are supplying to big stores like Shoprite or Spar, consistency is key. Additionally, to have crops throughout the year, you need an efficient irrigation system in place.
Through my journey, I have become an inspiration to many women and youth in my area. Msundwe, where I am, is often associated with negative things, but I have seen a change. Many young people, especially women, are now involved in farming. I offer free advice on farming, and I have also mentored students from Mwimba Institute of Agriculture. I even distribute free seeds and Sack bags to women and youth in Msundwe and beyond.
My ultimate goal is to turn Rose Farms into a learning center for women and youth. Seeing the progress of those who sought my advice and witnessing more young people engaged in agribusiness makes me incredibly proud. When I envision a future where women view agribusiness as a serious endeavor, it's a great feeling.

The competition posed by imported furniture has been a significant obstacle. However, I remain steadfast in my determination to shift this perception.
