National Bank of Malawi in Partnership with Malawi Defence Force and the Archdiocese of Blantyre has set aside the 6th January as the NBM tree planting day as part of the Go Green Initiative which Started last year. The Bank planted the trees at Zomba Mountain and the Catholic Institute (C.I) Parish.

This year, NBM is maintaining the Partnership with Malawi Defence Force, Archdiocese of Blantyre and the Directorate of Forestry to plant a total of 100,000 tree seedlings in Mzuzu, Blantyre, Lilongwe Karonga and Zomba.

National Bank of Malawi  says that the electronic transactions has the potential of reducing the congestion in the banking halls as customers can transact in the comfort of their homes and offices.

Most of the times, the banking halls are characterized by long winding queues as most customers want to transact over the counter to make the deposits and withdraws.

National Bank of Malawi Held  cocktail in Mzuzu to interact with customers. During the cocktail, Chief Executive Officer, Mcfussy Kawawa spoke on the current power situation that has affected the bank in many ways. He said that most  productivity in most companies has gone down and this has led to reduction in the number of people that are borrowing from the banks.

National Bank of Malawi interacted with small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with business tips aiming at easing their hurdles in accessing finance and boosting their businesses.

NBM Head of Retail Banking Division, Oswin Kasunda described the interaction as the best so far in terms of attendance and participation.

" We have received feedback that we needed as a bank because we had a lively audience and we are happy with how our customers in Mulanje are responding to new developments in the bank." he said.

National Bank of Malawi on Thursday, 9th November 2017 handed over two boreholes worth K8 million to Ndirande and Chichiri primary schools in Blantyre to improve health and sanitation at the two schools.

NBM Chief Executive Officer, Mcfussy Kawawa  said the Bank funded the drilling of the two boreholes after being approached by the Rotary Club of Blantyre.

On 13^th November 2017, National Bank presented Gold Awards, in the Employee Recognition Awards program, to employees whose performance was very outstanding.  The Awards were for the first half of 2017.

The Awardees are Peggy Banda from Cards and e-Banking, Lumbani Namwera from Mulanje Service Centre, Catherine Mojoo from Treasury and Investment Banking Division and Phillip Kalembera from Information Technology, Organisation and Methods Division Division.

The newly introduced National Bank of Malawi-sponsored MO626 college Basketball Championship was launched on Saturday, 28th October, 2017

Vice President Saulos Chilima who was the guest of honor, set the pace by featuring in the launch match between Malawi colleges alumni team and the current student select side. the veterans came from behind to beat 46-43, with Chilima sealing the victory for the old guards with seconds to the final whistle when he converted two points.

Halmiton Zungu and Joshbed Mpanga won National Bank of Malawi golf tournament at the Mulanje Golf Club on sunday, 15th October.

Playing off handicap 21, Zungu, a South African national who started playing golf mid last year scored 67 points to beat 68 other golfers to claim the men's title while the Lilongwe Based Mpanga was the victor in the women's category.
